“Autumn Already!!???” I hear you cry!!!
I know, we are only half way through the Summer and as I sit here in the French sunshine it is hard to believe that the rest and relaxation will soon be all over and I will be back to work with a bang! So it is time to get prepared…….
The first thing I must prepare for on my return to work is the extremely busy “Flu Season”
Our vaccines should arrive at the end of September and once again we will be holding a “Flu Day” so please keep an eye out for posters and website posts which will inform you of the dates and times.
We will also be arranging the Fluenz vaccinations for our young patients and as we had so much fun last year we will again be donning our Halloween costumes and inviting your children in for their Forest Medical Fairy Potion, to keep the Bad Goblin Germs away this Winter.
Another important priority is to ensure we are achieving our PPG (Patient Participation Group) objectives such as arranging an In-house Translation Service. Alison Waring (PPG member) and myself will be meeting with interpreters in the next couple of months to discuss the needs of our patients and exactly what interpretation services can be provided. The findings of this will hopefully be reported on in the minutes from our next PPG meeting.
We will also be contacting local schools and colleges to see if any of our younger patients would be interested in joing our PPG. We believe this would be an advantage to anyone studying a Health and Social Care subject however we also understand that the meeting times would be inconvenient to someone in full time education. I have therefore started to set up a bit of a Youth Forum for Forest Medical by way of a Social Network site called Streetlife. I am in the early stages so please bear with me on this one….
And finally, as I left for France I bid a sad farewell to our Registrars Dr John and Dr Chandrasena as they came to the end of their training with us. However, I am looking forward to meeting our new Registrars Dr Tong and Dr Lea and hope you will join me in making them welcome to our Forest Medical team.
Thank you once again to Neil Hill (PPG member) for a fantastic Newsletter and to Shannon Jones (FM Receptionist) for an incredible insight into a day in the life of a receptionist.
If you would like any information regarding our PPG or would like to make suggestions for information in future editions of the Newsletter please contact us at ppg_rshc@hotmail.co.uk
To all our patients – Enjoy the rest of your Summer!!!! While it lasts! 🙂
Kind Regards
Nicola
